5 Ways to Protect Your Energy Around Negativity

It’s easy to get caught up in the collective vibrations of worry, uncertainty and fear.

Snapping out of downward spiralling emotions can be tough, especially if we aren’t aware it’s happening.

I’ve written here before about how everything is vibrational energy – including you.

Your mind is a field of energy and the millions of thoughts you have every day are creating emotions which are simultaneously sending out vibrational waves. Your energies and the energies of others are collectively relating to each other every single moment.

If you find yourself feeling anxious, worried and fearful, there are things you can do to prevent yourself from falling into a negative spiral.

5 Ways to Protect Your Energy Around Negativity

1. Reduce Your Exposure to the News

Approach the news from a need-to-know basis. Get the gist of what’s happening without becoming embroiled in it on an emotional level. Don’t be afraid to switch off or walk away. It doesn’t mean you don’t care. Protect your personal vibes so you can be a force of good in the world and not caught up in collective fears.

If your internet browser is set to news as soon as you open a new tab, or you have news flashing up on your phone, change those settings. You honestly don’t need to see the news several times a day.  My browser is set to see an inspiring image in nature with a positive quote, using the Momentum extension with my Chrome browser.

2. Avoid Contagious Emotions

Your energy field is constantly taking in and putting out vibrations and the low vibrations of others will bring you down if left unchecked.

Practice gentle compassion for how others are feeling, but don’t get sucked in. Try changing the subject and talking about something that everyone can enjoy. Share a funny or inspirational story or ask the negative-feeling person to tell you about something they enjoy. It’ll help shift their focus away from whatever it is that they are complaining about and will help you to better manage the experience.

3. Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Remedy ‘Walnut’ is the natural flower remedy for protection from outside influences. Not only is it excellent for dealing with major changes, such as a new baby in the house, starting school, moving or changing job, but it’s also a powerful vibe protector. Take a few drops in water and sip at intervals, or put some directly on the tongue for immediate assistance if you are spending time around low vibration people.

Another recommended Bach Remedy is ‘Red Chestnut’. This one’s ideal for people who feel fear or great concern for the welfare of others. They may even lose sleep and develop symptoms of stress due to worrying about someone they love. This one works to bring peace to a fearful mind and put things into perspective.

I have written previously about Bach Flower Remedies here.

4. Essential Oils

doTERRA essential oil On Guard has a combination of oils to shield against bacteria and viruses and strengthen the immune system. On Guard extends beyond the physical level and helps with emotions around feeling vulnerable or needing personal protection and healthy boundaries. On Guard comes inside of doTERRA cleaning products too, so you can use it all over your house and get the emotional and physical benefits as you clean. Use the oil in a diffuser or add a few drops to a spray bottle and mist it. You can also dilute it in a carrier oil like coconut oil and apply it over your chest or throat.

Other recommended doTERRA oils for lifting your emotions are Tangerine (lifts dark moods and promotes optimism and joy), Wild Orange (to let go of fear and bring about a sense of humour and playfulness), and Cilantro (encourages detachment from toxic worries).

5. Activate Your Invisible Protective Bubble

Imagine you are guarded by an imaginary bubble of positive light and love. Nothing can penetrate. You are well protected inside and all negative vibes will bounce off. There are meditations in the free Insight Timer meditation app to help with this, as well as hundreds to choose from around releasing anxiety, worry and fear. Close your eyes and press play on any of them as you breath and bring yourself out of future projecting and into the present moment. Trust that all that all is well and you and your loved ones are safe and protected.

Studies have shown that increased levels of anxiety and stress can weaken our immune systems.  If you have succumbed to low vibes, try out EFT Tapping. The free Tapping Solution app has a specific meditation to support you in releasing any anxieties around the Coronavirus and the news surrounding it. Download the Tapping Solution app and use the search bar to find this specific Coronavirus meditation.

Be aware of your own personal vibes and gently notice the vibes of others. Don’t judge anyone’s vibes as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ – try to stay neutral and in the mindset of being responsible for your own energy.

The more consistently you are in a high vibrational frequency, the more you will either naturally repel low vibrations or even positively influence them with your own. This is not to be done as a deliberate act by trying to control anyone. Understand that you create your reality, and that every other person creates their reality. Everyone has an opportunity to wake up any time when they’re ready.

I teach much more about how to live with ease and flow, tap into your intuition, and understand yourself as energy in my 4-week online programme, The High Vibe Journey.

Oh my goodness THANK YOU Kelly! It has been really challenging at work to be around all of the fear and panic and maintain my own sense of perspective and positivity. Of course I would be scared if it actually affects myself or anyone close to me, but at the point I do not see the point of non stop talking and worrying about it. I will share your wonderful post far and wide and help spread the message. ❤️

I am the first two points. That’s me. I avoid the news but get the gist of the main points. I impact my own small world, which in turn helps people around me and the global sphere. I don’t need to know about every disaster or equally awful event. I can’t carry those around.
I do tapping and really enjoy how it seems to sink in. It can lift me, as I ‘force’ a positive mindset even if at that moment I’m not feeling it. That helps me through it yet also be accepting of that moment.
I have used Bach but only the rescue remedy, I could try the walnut.
I have a doterra roll on called passion to inspire and help me feel my true space, which also moves over people with negative vibes. There’s so much unexplored with that brand for me.
Thanks for focusing on how our mind can help us through these globally worrying events and proactive ways of dealing with them, in our own individual world.

Thanks for adding your own experiences to this positive conversation Diane. It’s great to hear about the tools that work to help keep your mindset healthy. Keep focusing on your own personal vibrations as that is collectively helping us all. ❤️

I’m very mindful about what conversations I have around my son, but I do check in with him to understand how he’s doing and what he’s feeling about the current situation. Obviously he’s both thrilled and anxious about the prospect of school being closed for a prolonged period of time, should that happen in the UK. Thrilled because he thinks this equals unlimited gaming time (I keep saying it’s not a holiday, you just learn from a different location) and anxious because he won’t see his friends and he enjoys learning.
This is teaching us all to adapt, and think through in advance how we will adapt to learning and working in a different way. If we frame these new experiences in the right way it really helps. It’s going to be different for a while, and that’s OK!

This shows how strong and resilient you are within yourself Sam. Your calmness and open communication (with sensible boundaries) are just what you son needs right now. Reframing is also so powerful and important. Let’s carry on this discussion in our Project WE community. See you there. x
