How to turn your goals into reality!

Turning Goals Into Reality

You know that feeling when you set a goal for yourself and you really want to achieve it… but somehow it never quite gets off the ground?

You start beating yourself up and soon you just feel negative about the whole goals and resolutions thing.

Why even bother if you’re going to fail anyway, right?

Here’s the missing ingredient when it comes to setting goals that are really going to happen:

A solid game plan and accountability.

You can have the best goals in the world but without a written plan of action you’ll struggle to reach them. And if you don’t tell anyone else about your goals, your far less likely to stay consistent and follow through.

The good news is, I’ve created a printable Action Sheet for you and a few tips to make it super easy.

Designing Your Plan of Action:

1. Choose a goal that’ll make a big difference to your happiness.

2. Write down any ideas you have for giving your goal lift-off.

3. Print off an Ideas Into Action sheet and write the first three steps you’ll take and (very importantly) when you’ll do each one. Look at your calendar. Ink it in now!

The sooner you take action on a goal the better, no matter how small.

Only think about the first step, then the next. Taking baby steps will save you from getting overwhelmed.

It’s tempting to want to dive in and work on a bunch of goals at once, but that’ll make you crazy.

You might want to choose one doing goal (like being on top of your meal planning each week), one being goal (like being patient with your kids) and one long term goal you need to get started on now (like creating a new website for your business).

Here’s an example of how an Ideas Into Action sheet might look:

Life area: Health

Goal: I look and feel amazing on our beach trip.

Step 1: Call the gym and see if I can reactivate my membership without paying fees again. When? At 10am tomorrow morning. (Now set yourself a reminder)

Step 2: See if Karen wants to have a running date with me once a week. When? I’ll get in touch with her today!

Step 3: Find healthy recipes and plan out my meals. When? Saturday afternoon when I have nothing planned. (Schedule it in!)

Sometimes you won’t know step two until you’ve done step one. That’s ok! There’s no absolute formula for this, only that you take one step right after the other.

Feeling stuck?

Print off a Challenge Solver Action Sheet. Write down your A’s to the Q’s. The magic happens when you get it out of your head and onto paper. You’ll realise that you do have the answers.

Whether you’ve been following this 4-part Goal Setting series in order, or are just jumping in now – fantastic! There’s no right or wrong way.

In Part 4 I’ll give you some hacks that really make goals stick. Use them and you’ll become a great goalkeeper!

Great news Georgina! Getting it out of your head and onto paper is the best way to get clarity. When you’ve crafted your goals come back and share some with us – nothing like a bit of accountability to really get you going!

Ok, I know this isn’t a lofty goal, but it’s something I’ve been procrastinating.

Goal – organize family trip to Colorado by Jan. 31
    Step 1 – Book flight
    Step 2 – Book hotel
Step 3 – Book rental car

Done! Thanks for the kick in the pants:)

Organising a great family trip is a lofty goal in my eyes Pam 😉 Love your step by step plan of action – and that you went ahead and did it straight away. Bet that feels amazing! x
